
Inside a locker room, players sag their heads in defeat, buried into their phones as they try to avoid eye contact from the media members inching towards them or a political headquarters for the Democratic party, filled with canvassers and campaign coordinators, discussing how to address the media following a defeat. These are the stories I like to cover, I live by the mantra “show don’t tell,” immersing the reader in the story. I worked as an editor, writer, and news reporter at WVUA 23, covering West Alabama and University of Alabama athletics, giving me the experience to cover events from the NCAA basketball tournament, to state and nationwide elections.
